Twinkle Khanna felt like a ball of gas shooting Baadshah song with Shah Rukh Khan. Here’s why

Twinkle Khanna had a memorable career in the ’90s and early 2000s before she took to writing. One of her most popular roles is in Baadshah. The film which came out in 1999 saw her sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan. While fans know of the film as an iconic comedy, Twinkle Khanna has recalled details from filming that will make one look at it in a whole new light.

Twinkle Khanna recently opened up about what went down behind the scenes while shooting for a song sequence. The track in question was Mohabbat Ho Gayee. It is a romantic song in which Twinkle wears a body-hugging outfit, much like the rest of her movie wardrobe. Twinkle has now revealed that she had only been eating channa ahead of filming for the song in order to fit into an outfit designed by Manish Malhotra.

In a recent interview with the designer on her YouTube channel, Twinkle Khanna opened up about her experience on the sets of Baadshah. Talking about a sequence involving Shah Rukh Khan, she said,  “Every time I had to wear Manish Malhotra clothes, it meant that either I was not eating, I had to suck my stomach in. There was one song where you had done the clothes and I ate only chana for a week.”

Talking about a part of the song where SRK had to lift Twinkle up, she said, “I was very scared that if the hero lifts me I will just be like a ball of gas because all I had is chana. But that is what you had to do to wear your clothes.

Meanwhile, Malhotra also reflected on how problematic it was back in the day saying, “It was such a trend at that time that you also had to be a victim of that.”

On the work front, Twinkle Khanna is set to release a movie adaptation of a short story from her bestselling book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad.
