See how megadeals in 2021 shake up Automotive News’ list of top 150 groups

[ad_1]

Automotive News on April 4 will release the newest version of its annual list of the top 150 dealership groups based in the U.S.

The groups on the upcoming list will be ranked by new-vehicle retail sales in 2021 — a year dominated by some of the biggest dealership buy-sell deals in automotive retailing history. Given the explosion in acquisitions last year, expect changes in the rankings for some of the largest dealership groups on the list, as well as for retailers further down the list.

2021 highlights included the acquisitions of last year’s No. 8 Larry H. Miller Dealerships, No. 18 Prime Automotive Group, No. 21 Suburban Collection and No. 42 RFJ Auto Partners Holdings Inc. In addition to such megadeals, many groups on last year’s list also bought a significant number of stores in smaller transactions.

Using the data collected for the top 150 groups, Automotive News will be able to share the latest trends and insights on dealership consolidation in the industry. The top groups now own more of the industry’s dealerships and are responsible for a larger share of the industry’s new-vehicle sales.

For more details on these consolidation trends and to see how individual dealership groups ranked for 2021, check out Automotive News‘ top 150 list and corresponding stories on April 4.
