1. Pride and Prejudice (2005)

Nothing says spring like a Jane Austen novel adaptation. Set in the early nineteenth century, this movie follows Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightley). Although she lives well on a lovely English estate, she must marry to keep the home in the family.

Elizabeth first meets the eligible bachelor Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen) at a ball. The first impression is not a great one but eventually it improves.

Things heat up when Elizabeth finds herself at Mr. Darcy’s estate for a few days. Although their personalities differ, they have an undeniable chemistry. The interesting relationship between the two characters will have you wanting more!

This 2005 movie has a runtime of two hours and nine minutes and has a PG rating.

2. Fever Pitch

If a rom-com is more your style, you’ll love this baseball romance story. Set in Boston, this movie follows a lovable teacher named Ben Wrightman (Jimmy Fallon). Ben falls hopelessly in love with work obsessed Lindsey Meeks (Drew Barrymore).

Although they have different personalities, things quickly heat up and they begin dating. Ben spends the winter dedicating lots of his free time to Lindsey. Things seem to be going great the first few months of their relationship.

Then spring hits. It is then that Lindsey finds out that her new boyfriend is absolutely obsessed with the baseball team the Boston Red Sox. Lindsey wants to be there for Ben, but doesn’t understand how deep his love for the sport goes.

Does Ben choose baseball over his new girlfriend? You’ll have to watch to find out!

Fever Pitch has a runtime of one hour and forty-four minutes and has a PG-13 rating.

3. The Sound of Music

This classic romance movie checks all the springtime boxes with rolling hills, fields of flowers, and falling in love. Set in the mountains of Austria, this movie follows a free-spirited Maria (Julie Andrews). She leaves her home at the abbey to take care of a widow’s seven children.

Maria teaches the children what life is like when you loosen the rules. She introduces them to music and shows them what it is like to be kids again. Throughout the story the governess herself eventually finds love.

The mix of mountain scenery and music will get you ready to prance around in the springtime breeze.

You’ll need to start this movie early as this 1965 film is almost three hours long. Its official runtime is two hours fifty-two minutes, and it has a G rating.

4. 10 Things I Hate About You

This romance movie has a unique Shakespearian twist. It’s based on the famous playwright’s play, Taming of the Shrew.

This movie focuses on two high school sisters, Bianca (Larisa Oleynik) and Kat (Julia Stiles). Bianca wants to navigate the high school dating world, but her overprotective dad doesn’t allow her to date.

This doesn’t bother Kat, who has no interest in dating at all. On the other hand, Bianca is furious over this rule as she wants a boyfriend. The real fun begins when the sister’s father decides Bianca can only go on a date when Kat gets a date.

Eager to date Bianca, a group of boys pays bad boy Patrick (Heath Ledger) to be the one to date Kat. The boys hope that once Kat is dating, they can try to get Bianca to go out with one of them.

With lots of dates outside as the school year winds down, this is one of the best romance movies set in springtime. Even prom, the springtime event of the high school year, is featured in this film.

This 90s flick has a runtime of one hour and thirty-seven minutes and a rating of PG-13.

5. You’ve Got Mail

Kathleen can’t stand her rival, corporate bookstore owner, Joe (Tom Hanks). The plot thickens when they anonymously meet each other online. A relationship forms, but neither knows who they are actually talking to.

Joe finds out that his online love is the woman he is always fighting with! He has to decide between going with his deep disdain for her in real life and the online love they have formed.
